Cruise Activities Both Onshore and Onboard

Are you ready for the adventure that the Southern Caribbean has to offer? In this section we will entice you to just let go of all the stress and enjoy all that the ship and Islands have to offer.

So sit back, relax, close your eyes and imagine the possibilities that seven days at sea and island hopping will bring!

Let's start with life on board ship; did you say sunbathing? The ship has plenty of loungers with two decks and two to three pools. Did I mention bar service pool side? Yes, go ahead and order that favorite tropical drink with the tiny umbrella, it's all good. If the open pool is not for you, then try the enclosed Solarium that caters to a more adult crowd.

Now if you're like me and need to watch the waistline, then the ship's spa and gym is the answer. On board you'll find a fully equipped gym with treadmills, stair steppers, stationary bikes, dead weights and weight machines. There's a fully equipped locker room with lockers, towels, showers and sauna (there's even a scale, if you dare). The Spa offers full treatments including massages, facials and more.

Now for those looking to press their luck, there's the Casino. You can choose from table games to craps to slots. During sea days, the Casino offers slot and blackjack tournaments for a small entry fee. If the Casino is not your thing, the ship also offers Bingo games all week at various times.

Dinner anyone? One thing for sure, on board you'll never go hungry unless you fall overboard. In addition to the formal dining room, you have the choice of the buffet, snack bars, Johnny Rocket's, two speciality restaurants and room service. If you start to feel guilty about all the wonderful choices, remember that the gym is open early and closes late!

So let's talk about life on shore, although each of the Islands we'll visit are different and unique, Island life is simple, lots of sun, beaches, water activities, food and shopping. You can choose to just lay around, sightseeing, or explore to your hearts content.

In addition to hanging out in the Islands, sailing is a favorite past time, booking a half or full day catamaran can be a life changing experience.
When on board, generally lunch and tropical rum drinks are served as well as local Island music to get ones grove moving.  You can either go swimming or work on that tan, in fact, if you want you can do both!

Sea life is abundant, by taking a snorkeling trip you'll swim with sea turtles, thousands of tropical fish including string rays, the gentle giants of sea. The waters are crystal clear and as warm as bath water; snorkeling is for both experienced and novice swimmers. Don't forget that underwater camera.

I hope you enjoyed the activities review of our upcoming September 11, 2011 cruise on Royal Caribbeans Serenade of the Seas. If you still deciding on joining us, just remember that the worst day cruising beats the best day working!  Hope to see you on board!
